Frida Åberg has send me a link to the online exhibition “I Care A Lot” where she exhibits together with a number of other jewellers.
The “I Care A Lot” exhibition is such a good example of how we in smaller or larger scale can make this place a better place. The project’s aim is to raise the discussion about current issues in the Middle East through an international art exhibition in which jewelry is the chosen media. I Care A Lot is a not-for-profit, non-governmental group which aim is to facilitate the dialogue between the diverse cultures. You find the full description of the initiative and the exhibition at the website.
Frida Åbers is contributing to the exhibition and she says about her work: “The desert has time. The wind is slowly but surely turning the mountains into sand, the sand turning into sand dunes. Underneath is the oil, plant material that over an unimaginable time turns into this thick, black, desirable liquid. And the cultures are quickly blinking by. Forming and disappearing.”
What inspires me at the moment is if and how we with the art we make can change our world in a positive direction? Can we contribute to discussions that can change behaviour? Can we make people reflect and think twice? Can we make this world a better place with jewellery?
What do you think?
